For All (Domestic & International) Applicants
- A baccalaureate degree in a relevant field from one of the institutional accreditors (or international equivalent) found in the “Accreditation” section on the Admissions website. While traditional backgrounds in natural sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences) are common, candidates with training in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines are also encouraged to apply. Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) is a multidisciplinary field, and success in the program depends on a candidate’s readiness to learn and develop any complementary knowledge they may be missing. If your bachelor’s degree is not in a relevant field, please email Emely McKitrick.
- An upper-division GPA of 3.0 or higher. To calculate what your upper-division GPA is, please use the Upper Division GPA Worksheet.
The GRE is no longer required for admission into the online Pharmaceutics program.
Submission of both a statement of purpose and a curriculum vitae/resume is required for master’s degree applicants.
International Applicants Only
- The English language skill requirements for admission are:
- If your reported nation of citizenship’s language is not English, or if you graduated with a bachelor’s degree from a non-English speaking country, you will need to take and submit your TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or other Graduate Council-approved English language skills test scores OR IELTS Academic.
- Non-English speaking countries are those that are not included in the Admissions Office list of English-speaking countries.
- ETS offers a 15% discount on TOEFL test registration with promo code UFTOEFL15.
- To be admitted to a master’s degree program, the applicant must score the following on the TOEFL:
TOEFL Scores
| TOEFL Exam Type | Required Score |
|---|---|

Transfer of Credits
A maximum of 15 transfer credits are allowed to count toward an M.S. degree. These can include no more than 9 credits from outside institutions approved by UF, with the balance obtained from non-degree and/or certificate courses at the University of Florida. These courses must be graduate-level (5000-7999) and earned with a grade of “B” or better. The course(s) cannot be older than seven years from the term you graduate as an M.S. student.
To have credits reviewed for transfer from another university, please email ahc-dess@ufl.edu the following information:
- The name of your previous institution
- The course name/number from your previous institution
- The term/year the course was completed
- The course in our program for which you think the credits will satisfy
- A copy of your transcripts (unofficial is fine); or a notification that we already have them on file
- A syllabus for the course that you would like to transfer from
We will forward the request to the Supervisory Committee for your major who will then make a decision.
Degree Completion
The master’s degree program in pharmaceutical sciences with a concentration in pharmaceutics is administered through the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy. Upon successful completion of these programs, students will receive a diploma stating Master of Science in Pharmacy issued by the Graduate School of the University of Florida. The transcripts will read Master of Science in Pharmacy (M.S.P.) with a major in Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in Model-Informed Drug Development.
General Information
If you are nearing completion of your bachelor’s degree, you may apply for admission to the online graduate program before your degree is officially conferred. If admitted, your bachelor’s degree must be conferred prior to the first day of classes in your term of admission. Additionally, you must submit original, official transcripts noting the award of your bachelor’s degree to the University of Florida Office of Admissions no later than the start of registration for your second semester.
